SEO Myth #1 Flash-Heavy Sites Can't Be Indexed by Search Engines May 7, 2008
With the rise in the use of Flash to create Web pages, it has become increasingly common to see that Flash heavy pages/sites do not appear on the Google, Yahoo! and MSN search results pages. The reason for this is that the search engine spiders do not index the large majority of Flash pages. Although the search engines are most likely taking steps to better read Flash files, the fact remains that spiders like reading text. Keep in mind that the spiders have to crawl the entire Internet and it would cost valuable time, resources, bandwidth, and storage to index files that are more complicated than normal HTML text.
