iPads and other tablets are on many holiday wish lists this year.  According to the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), this “marks a significant change from just last year, when peace and happiness took the top spot, followed by laptop computers, and tablets trailed at No. 3.”  Other trends that predict a huge holiday for tablet sales include:

  • Shoppers plan to spend $769 on average on gifts this year, up slightly from last year.  About a third of that will go toward electronics, an all-time high. (CEA)
  • iPad is the “king” of tablets and remains the most-wanted tablet, but those opting for simple “read as you go” alternatives will consider the Kindle or Nook Color (Fortune)
  • Kindle Fire, iPad, Nook Color and HP Touchpad are among the fastest moving product search terms in 2011 vs. 2010
