Building client relationships for over 10 years now, I have developed ways to explain complex solutions in a manner in which even the most technologically challenged person would understand. One of the most effective methods is the use of analogies.
Drawing parallels from examples that everyone can related to will not only educate your clients, it will also build trust as you make the effort to communicate with them in terms they will comprehend.
Take Digital Marketing. There are a variety of web channels rolled up into that term. SEO, PPC, Social, Affiliate, Mobile, Content, Email, Web Development. It isn’t just one thing, it’s multifaceted. One body with many moving parts.
Kind of like our own bodies. And how do we keep ourselves in shape and see results? By consistently working out each area.
You aren’t going to build strength just by doing cardio. Similarly, you aren’t going to generate web traffic simply by building a nifty looking website.
You have to engage each muscle to get the full body workout you need. Just like you need to utilize each digital channel to get the most ROI.
Another thing to keep in mind is results from Digital Marketing will take time to achieve. No one gets six pack abs overnight, right?
What’s great about Digital Marketing is that it is fluid and trackable. Adjustments can always be made as your goals change…just like a workout plan.
So next time you find yourself in a situation where the communication barrier is difficult to breach, try using an analogy.
