At Performics, we aggregate quarterly data across all our Comparison Shopping Engine (CSE) partners to determine which CSEs performed best each quarter in relation to several key performance indicators (KPIs). KPIs include clicks, sales, orders, earned revenue share (ERS), conversion rate, cost-per-clicks (CPCs) and average order value (AOV). We then derive the overall engine rank and compare engine performance on a quarterly basis.
In Q3, we saw the best overall performance on Shopzilla (Bizrate) even though Google Product Search ranked #1 in 3 metrics—clicks, sales and orders. Amazon Product Ads saw the highest average order value (AOV), and Bing Cashback/Shopping had the best conversion rate. Google Product Search saw the best overall improvement in ranking, moving from 7th to 4th overall rank, while Shopping.com dropped 3 spots, down from 1st place for the first 2 quarters of 2010 to 3rd place in Q3.
The chart below compares the overall rank of our top 10 engines from last quarter and shows their variance in rank since the beginning of the year.
