Google launches perspectives filter in mobile search results

Google has introduced a new feature called “perspectives” in its mobile search results. This feature allows users to filter their search results to see videos, blogs, and forums that provide a more personal experience related to their searches. “Perspectives” aims to present user-generated content in a more accessible and engaging way, particularly for younger users. Users can access the “Perspectives” filter by sliding the search bar filters and selecting the “perspectives” option. This feature is currently being rolled out.

Google Analytics 4 Updates

GA4 launches AMP support

Google has launched AMP (Accelerated Mobile Pages) support in Google Analytics 4 (GA4), allowing publishers to continue measuring their performance in the same way as with Universal Analytics (UA) before the deadline for migrating to GA4. This integration helps ensure a seamless transition for publishers when UA is permanently retired. Prior to this update, failure to enable AMP support in GA4 would have resulted in AMP users being unable to track their performance after the transition.

Universal Analytics Shutting Down

Google Analytics 4 has replaced Universal Analytics as the next-generation measurement solution. Starting from July 1, 2023, Universal Analytics properties will no longer process new data, and users will need a Google Analytics 4 property for website measurement. It is recommended to migrate to Google Analytics 4 now for a smooth transition.

Google Search Console Updates

Google adds INP report to Search Console

Google has introduced a new report in Google Search Console that focuses on the Interaction to Next Paint (INP) metric, which will replace First Input Delay (FID) as a Core Web Vital in March 2024. This is a new metric that Google announced in late June and assesses how quickly a page responds to user interactions (clicks, tapping a screen, pressing a keyboard key, etc). The report allows site owners to assess their page’s responsiveness to user interactions and prepare for the upcoming change.

Google Search Console may show more breadcrumb warnings

Starting on June 8, 2023, Google began making an update to its breadcrumbs rich results report in Google Search Console. This update may lead to an increase of “warnings” and “notices” related to structured date issues with breadcrumbs markup. Website owners should review the breadcrumbs report in Search Console to identify any new warnings or errors and take appropriate action to address them based on the information provided by Google.

Google Search Console video indexing report gets three new issue details

Google has enhanced the video indexing report in Google Search Console by providing more specific reasons and actions for videos not appearing in Google search results. Three new reasons have been added: video outside the viewport, video too small, and video too tall. These details can help website owners understand and address the specific issues preventing their videos from being indexed and displayed in Google search.

Bing adds new AI-powered shopping tools

Microsoft announced new AI-powered shopping tools targeted towards helping users shop and save using BingChat. Bing added price match monitors, buying guides, and review summaries. The price match monitor helps you find the price of an item after you’ve bought it to help you request price matching from the store you bought it from. The buying guide gives you insight on a product or category you’re researching, and shows product suggestions and more. The review summary provides users with a summary of what customers are saying about the product you are researching.

Google to depreciate Sitemaps ping endpoint later this year

Google announced that it will depreciate support for the sitemaps ping endpoint by the end of 2023. This means that HTTP ping requests will result in a 404 error. Sitemap ping is when search engines are notified that a sitemap was updated. You are still able to submit your sitemap into Google Search Console, however you just have to make sure that the lastmod value is updated with the correct date when changes were made..
