Confirming recent rumors about an update, Gmail has just released a change. “The inbox has gone Google. Again.” Confession. As I write this blog post, I have over 1,000 unread emails. To say it can be difficult at times to prioritize my incoming emails, is a bit of an understatement! The new Gmail resolves this very issue. Boasting a more intuitive design, Gmail groups your emails into five categories: Primary, Social, Promotions, Updates and Forums. The “Primary” category will contain messages from friends and family, and messages that don’t appear in the other tabs. “Social” will automatically contain notifications and messages from your social networking sites, like Tweet mentions, or Google+ followers. “Promotions” will hold deals, promotions etc. Your receipt from your last shopping spree goes into the “Updates” tab, and messages from your online groups and mailing lists will appear in “Forums.” Highly customizable, you can select the tabs you wish to appear, and easily choose which email to read first. Also, you can designate certain senders to your preferred tab. Do you want a notice to show up in both your Social and Primary tabs? Just star the sender so they also appear in the Primary tab. With these new changes in place, as Google says, it’s “a new inbox that puts you back in control.” Do you agree? Watch the video below, and share your comments.
